In collaboration with the Royal Veterinary College, London, SAFOSO co-authored a report on antimicrobial usage in livestock.

The results showed that there is a massive lack of information on the extent of usage in many countries around the world. At the same time, food is traded globally and resistance can potentially impact on free trade. Massive investments in better monitoring of usage in combination with monitoring of the extent of resistance in relevant bacteria is needed in order to inform evidence-based management of this risk.
