The European Food Safety Authority EFSA has proposed acomprehensive framework for a modern and dynamic risk-based meat safetyassurance system. The COST Action RIBMINS network facilitates the exchange ofideas and research results, aiming to support the full development andimplementation of general principles for a meat safety assurance system acrossEurope, benefiting consumers, industry, and animal health and welfare.
The RIBMINS network consists of five Working Groups:
WG1: Scope and targets of meat safety assurance
WG2: Farm-level controls and risk categorization of farms
WG3 Abattoir-level controls and risk categorization ofabattoirs
WG 4 Impact of changes and alternatives to traditionalmeat inspection
WG 5: Meat safety assurance system training, communication and monitoring
SAFOSO is the National contact point for the activities inSwitzerland, and a member of the Management Committee. SAFOSO is part of WorkingGroup 5, developing and analyzing stakeholder surveys and participating instakeholder meetings.
