Project Background

The importance of epidemiology in understanding the spread of diseases and concepts for disease control was catapulted into the public awareness by the COVID-19 pandemic. This created a great interest in basic epidemiological concepts among the general public.

Our Work

Responding to this need, we developed and offered a 7-module self-paced online course on epidemiology for non-epidemiologists. The course illustrated epidemiological concepts that we are exposed to in everyday life, and helped learners interpret these concepts for their own understanding of current events related to diseases in people and animals. The course consisted of video sequences and lecture slides with voiceover audio. It also include quizzes to keep track of personal progress and comprehension.
