Ulrich Sperling (Uli) studied molecular biology, biochemistry and biophysics at Tübingen University (Germany) and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (Switzerland) from 1989 to 1993. He received his Ph.D. in natural sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich in 1998. He then worked for three years as a strategic management consultant with McKinsey & Company, specializing in project controlling, business building and sustainable growth strategies. Moving closer to science again, he joined Prionics AG in 2001 as International Product Manager and later became Head of Product Management, assuming overall responsibility for marketing Prionics' TSE diagnostics.

Uli joined SAFOSO in January 2005 as a partner and became a member of the executive board in July.

Uli brings together the scientific and business perspective and thus identifies business opportunities for companies, industries and countries and defines steps towards implementation. He especially focuses on consulting to the private industry on marketing, operational and organizational matters in the field of food production and food safety.
